Advancement

Your path from Scout to Eagle

Scouts advance through the ranks of Scout, Tenderfoot, Second Class, First Class, Star, Life and Eagle at their own pace. Here is how advancement works in Troop 443.

Step 1: Complete the Requirements

Work on your rank requirements at meetings and campouts and get each one signed off by a troop leader. Keep track of your progress in Scoutbook. The official requirements are on Scouting America’s Advancement and Awards page.

Step 2: Scoutmaster Conference

Once all requirements for the rank are complete, request a Scoutmaster Conference with Scoutmaster Mr. Ram Ramkumar. Conferences are held on Tuesdays during the troop meeting. Book a Scoutmaster Conference online.

Step 3: Board of Review

After your Scoutmaster Conference is complete and recorded, schedule your Board of Review. Board of Review slots are held bi-weekly on Wednesdays and Thursdays, 8:00–9:00 pm. Wear your field uniform. Schedule a Board of Review.

Step 4: Recognition

New ranks and merit badges are recognized at the troop’s Court of Honor.

Merit Badges

Browse the full list of merit badges, then find a counselor on our Merit Badge Counselors page. Talk with the Scoutmaster before starting a new merit badge.

Eagle Scout

Eagle is the highest rank in Scouts BSA. Life Scouts working toward Eagle should talk with the Scoutmaster early about their Eagle project and use the official Eagle Scout Service Project Workbook. Meet our past Eagle Scouts on the Eagles page.
