Activities
Weekly
The Troop meets once a week on Tuesday evenings at the Filipino United Church, Sunnyvale at 7:15 pm. This meeting is for an hour in which we do rank advancement, campout planning and other Scouting activities. Scouts learn essential scouting skills such as first aid, knot tying, leadership and communication.
Monthly
Every month the Troop goes for an outdoors activity. The outdoors activity may include camping, hiking, backpacking, fishing, biking, climbing. Some examples of monthly activities are, 15 mile bike ride from Salinas to Monterey, whitewater rafting on the American River, or overnight camping to Fremont Peak and a visit to the local Observatory.
Yearly
Once a year during summer the Troop goes for a week long resident camp. These are Boy Scouts camps that operate during summer months hosting troops from all over the country. Camp Hi-Sierra and Camp Wente are examples of two such camps. Usually these camps are within driving distance from Sunnyvale and run from Sunday to the following Saturday. The camps provide scouts an opportunity to earn merit badges and complete requirements, but more importantly they are an opportunity for the Scouts to have a blast out in the wilderness but within a safe environment.
