My journey into boy scouts began  when I brought my son to his first Troop 443 meeting. There I saw a person at the podium, who was calm, collected and had command over his troop. Not having been in scouting before, I was told that the person speaking was the Senior Patrol Leader (SPL),  Ayush.
Seeing him convinced me that if Scouting can create such leaders, it has to be a good thing to get involved in as a parent of a young scout. A few months later I was able to see this SPL in action at Camp Hi-Sierra. Ayush exuded a calm confidence as he led the troop through various activities. I saw him  become a friend, a guide, a mentor and a leader to the other scouts.
Ayush has had a tremendous journey, beginning at the Scout Rank to now an Eagle – a journey that I hope a lot of other scouts will also make in this troop. Becoming an Eagle is not just another rank, but it is a badge of honor that you will carry for the rest of your life. It’s the only place where an eagle is higher than a star. Once an Eagle always an Eagle.
As this eagle leaves his nest and goes off to college, I am sure he is going to soar and make his parents proud and this troop proud. Finally, to quote from my beloved Science Officer from a Starship Enterprise, “Live long and Prosper” Ayush, Congratulations .
